Sorry for letting my mind wander
I typically try to keep this page dedicated to religious fanatics but there is something that I need to share that is really important to me. Almost a year ago I nearly lost my life to a drunk driver. The saga has been an ongoing development that I have kept logs on at www.nomoredrunks.blogspot.com . The most recent development is so outrageous that I wanted everyone to get a chance to see it. Please help me make Mark Nigon the most famous drunk in the state of Colorado. Thanks

I read the ridiculous request by Mark Nigon...what balls he has!
sorry that your mind wanders, eh? try your best to not think so randomly, psycho boy.
Wow! making fun of someone almost dying at the hands of a drunk Christian man. You are a jem Frank, er Daddy Cool!
Is being a drunk biological?
Reg,
I am glad that you brought up this question. The overwhelming majority of scientific research points to their being a very large genetic component to alcoholism. People with a genetic predisposition for alcoholism tend to metabolize alcohol differently. This difference causes them to drink larger amounts of alcohol in order to get the same effect that someone who is not predisposed to alcohol would get. In A.A. they recognize this by voicing a need for an alcoholic to never drink again. It’s the old “once and alcoholic, always an alcoholic.” So even though the alcoholic no longer drinks he is still an alcoholic. Some scientist even argue that someone who has never had a drink could be considered an alcoholic due to their genetic makeup, even though they may never trigger the gene. I am sure that you could draw out the conclusions as they pertain to homosexual behavior which, I’m sure, is the point that you are trying to get at. It is irrelevant to this situation though, as my main problem with Mark Nigon is not that he is a drunk but the fact that he “decided” to drive while drunk. He also decided not to be a man and take care of the consequences. Even someone who decides not to drink can still be an alcoholic, just as someone who decides not to participate in homosexual activity can still be a homosexual.
While I disagree with you, I am very sorry you have had to endure what you have had to. Is you wife ok, was she injured? Anyway I hope you make a full recovery and I hope Mark Nigon will never sleep good again in his life. I believe in the 1 strike and you are out. If you drink and drive, you loose your license for life, you can't own a car or motorcycle for life, You must spend as much time in jail as the person you hurt spends recovering. I think the system lets people off too easy because they are under that mistaken belief that alcoholism is a disease. It is not, it is a weakness, a lack of character, and definetely a decision. If you can choose not to behave badly, then it is not genetic or a predisposition. That is my opinion.
Mark Nigon hit us head on, but more on the passenger side. My wife was injured but not nearly to the extent that I was. Mark Nigon's alcoholism is a mute point though. Decision or genetic, he needs to pay for the damage he caused. There is an essay by Kant where he discusses a world where there is no choice. He ask if there is no free will then should one be held responsible when they murder someone. His ultimate answer is yes because of the damage that the person poses to society. I tend to agree with this. No matter what the circumstances are, his actions must be punished. Thank you for your concern.
